Standing on the charming Place de la Pucelle, the Hôtel de Bourgtheroulde is known for being an architectural gem in Rouen. We owe its existence to a French magistrate and lord whose difficult-to-pronounce name was given to the building. Built at the end of the 16th century, this former private mansion, which has defied the years and the vagaries of history, still bears witness to its unique grace, a mix of Gothic and Italian Renaissance. Although the original interior has almost disappeared, on the façade of the south wing there is still a sculpted representation of the meeting at the Field of the Cloth of Gold between Kings Francis I of France and Henry VIII of England.

In summary, a very big meeting for the time!
Occupied by a bank until the end of 2006, the surface area of this building, listed as a historical monument since 1924, has been used as a luxury hotel since 2010. If you can't afford a 5-star room or walk around in a bathrobe and flip-flops in a superb emblem of the Renaissance, you can at least boast about knowing the history and purpose of this rather royal place.
