A little isolated and yet central to the history of the Norman capital, this keep is the only remaining vestige of the castle of Rouen built around the 13th century by King Philippe Auguste, one of the most admired and studied monarchs of medieval France. Apart from its royal past, the building is best known for having hosted the harsh trial of Joan of Arc in 1431 in the presence of her executioners. If its name comes from this major event in the history of France, the 30-meter-high tower with its military architecture later became a museum. An almost unsurprising end until the surprising reconversion of the site as the first historical and cultural escape game in Normandy opened in 2017. A totally new experience to relive the history of the siege of Rouen as if you were there
